What is a Unicode SMS?

The SMS Unicode service is responsible for facilitating the sending of SMS messages containing any character or symbol (accents, emojis or characters from any alphabet).

A Unicode SMS message has a standard capacity of 70 characters, but can be extended by concatenating different messages that the recipient will receive as a single message.

The main uses of a unicode SMS are:

Sending of orthographically correct SMS messages (accents).
Sending messages in any alphabet (Cyrillic, Chinese, Arabic, Greek, Hebrew, Korean, etc.).
Inclusion of emojis, icons or symbols in the text of an SMS.

How does a SMS Unicode work?

Once Unicode SMS service is enabled in the Account Preferences, users will be able to send messages from any form or SMS sending option in our Web Application.

In addition, it is possible to automate the sending of Unicode SMS by integrating with LabsMobile's SMS API, see the API documentation for more information.

How much does a Unicode SMS cost?

There is no charge for activating the Unicode SMS service. Only Unicode SMS messages sent are charged. Credits corresponding to the length of the individual or concatenated Unicode SMS will be deducted.

Details on Unicode SMS capability:

Up to 70 characters	1 credit
From 71 to 134 characters	2 credits
From 135 to 201 characters	3 credits
From 202 to 268 characters	4 credits
From 269 to 335 characters	5 credits

Recommendation

It is not recommended to send concatenated SMS of more than 5 parts because they may present errors in transmission, delivery or display.
